This is my favourite project that I finished recently: the new rainbow shelf~ I decided that we needed more books in our living room, instead of a shelf full of dvds and random toys. I loved having the books organsied by colour in our old study and I think it looks really nice in this brightly coloured room.
It’s funny because although I love reading, our book collection is pretty small. Since I’m a librarian I can borrow almost anything I like either from my library, or on interlibrary loan. So I really only buy books that I either can’t find, or love so much I want to read over and over again.
Most of my books are gifts, childhood favourites, thrift store finds, and leftovers from the office of a retiring academic when I was a postgraduate. My library books live next to my bed in a big pile that I use instead of a nightstand ♥

wow! I didn’t know you were a librarian. That is so cool :)
Yes, I’ve been a librarian for just over a year now! It is pretty cool, although working with the public can be an… adventure, sometimes!
Awesome! Looks great :)
Thank you! ♥
It looks really great! I’ve been thinking to do that at my place but the strange thing is… I have no blue books! Where have they gone, i don’t know… Now i think twice before buying a book with red covers (have too many!)
I’m loving your new layout very much (probably because I love mustard yellow, too!)
Xxx,
Lily
It’s funny how there are so many red/orange covered books! I never noticed it until I put them into the colour-coded shelves :)
I sort a lot of items by colour. My clothes, my fabrics, sometimes my yarns, etc. Your bookshelf looks amazing!
Thank you! Sorting things by colour is just such a nice way to do things, especially if they are on display. I love looking at all the colour-coded wool in craft stores :)
