Last week B. and I went on a little adventure, back to our old suburb to look in all of the op-shops. As usual, there was lots of digging through ugly junk, but we managed to find a few treasures.

The sweetest little baby cardigan (complete with bonus cute coathanger) to go in our ever-growing pile of baby things. (I’m not expecting yet, but we have started putting things aside. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right?)

Pretty pillowcases. I was planning to cut them up to use the material, but now I’m thinking that a mixed collection of vintagey pillowcases might be a nice thing to have…

Knitting goodies! There wasn’t very much wool, but I discovered that op shops are a goldmine for knitting needles. There were jars and jars full of them for 50c a pair. Amazing!

We had a pie dish just like this one which got dropped and broken. So I was very happy to find this replacement! And I love this scarf. It’s a little different from my usual style, but I think it is so pretty ♥

Have a look at Danielle’s Treasure Hunting post for some more amazing thrift store finds! I want that school desk in my size!

LOVE the cardigan it is so cute.

You found some great things, I never have the patience to comb through all the junk in a op shop, but you’ve inspired me to maybe try!

You do have to dig through a lot of junk to find some nice things, but they are hiding there sometimes :)

I love when you find lots of goodies! That’s so neat about the knitting needles. I really need to get back into knitting.

I always tend to find crap, rather than treasures in op shops :) lucky you for finding these! that baby cardigan is just too adorable.

There is a lot of crappy stuff to dig through to find nice things! Some of the things there I just think, why would anyone ever want to buy this? Like underwear… Ew. I’m always hoping to find something amazing, like a fancy designer dress, but no such luck yet :)

Sadly it’s been far too long since I’ve any spare time to go op shopping. You’re making me jealous!

    1. Lyndall on 14.07.2011 at 02:07 (Reply)

I don’t get to go as often as I’d like! I hope you find some free time for op-shop hunting soon!

I am getting a little op shop obsession lately, i have found some wonderful stuff! I really should do a post about them. You have inspired me. Wowzers I have just started collection vintage pillow cases, i love the old floral designs. My first few i found at home, old pretty yellow ones that belonged to my dearest Nan. Gotta love that Ma is a little bit of a hoarded! Bless.

I am getting prepared too… and not a baby thought in sight. Baby things are just so cute and tiny. xx

I love seeing other people’s finds! Even if I do get a little jealous sometimes. Just a little!

I think my pillowcase collection will be fun. They’re all so soft from being washed so many times too~

Oh, these are such lovely finds. I adore going thrifting myself, but sadly I live in a very small town and we have only one thrift shop here. But I’m visiting Washington state in august to visit my dear cousins and we’re planning a treasure hunt in many thrift shops, so hopefully I’ll find something.

Ah, these are some pretty finds. Lucky you!!
I really love the pie dish.

It’s really sad the we don’t have op-shops and thrift stores here in Germany. Only in the biggest cities. :(

Happy weekend – it’s nearly there.

    1. Lyndall on 17.07.2011 at 08:43 (Reply)

Aw, that’s a shame. We have quite a few but a lot of the time they are full of junk, so I need to do lots of digging for treasures!

      I hope you’re having a lovely weekend!

What amazing finds! I love that little sweater and hanger. I’ve been looking for hangers like that. They’re hard to find, so you really found a gem!

Thank you for linking to my post, too, love!

    1. Lyndall on 17.07.2011 at 08:42 (Reply)

      You’re welcome!

I’d been wanting some of those little hangers for a long time (I’m sure my mum has some from when I was little), so I’m happy to have found it!

  13. Lynn on 15.07.2011 at 00:31 (Reply)

okay, i’m absolutely smitten with all your swell finds but that coat hanger is really just so darn cool! i’ve never seen one like it. what a keeper!!! i think it’s sweet that you are making a little hope chest for the day you have a baby. i’ve got one filled with knitted treasures my nana made when i was just a wee girl. saved and beloved is what, keep going on that.

pie dish kudos, glad you found a worthy contender ; ) happy almost weekend, thanks for that rad comment too. your vulture and our sharks need to have brunch one day! cheers lades.

Knitted baby things are the sweetest!

Now I just need to make a pie in my new dish… Maybe cheese & spinach pie, which I love but haven’t made for so long :9

Some brilliant treasure there… that scarf in particular. Scarves are one thing I seem to buy an awful lot of. They are my weakness.

    1. Lyndall on 17.07.2011 at 08:33 (Reply)

This is actually my first scarf in this style! I’m looking forward to wearing it :)

I’m in the exact same quandry about some vintage pillowcases I thrifted a while ago. Intended to make at least some of them into other things such as a cute apron, but taking the scissors to them just seems wrong somehow and so now am also considering a collection of mis-matched pillowcases instead!

    1. Lyndall on 17.07.2011 at 08:12 (Reply)

I started collecting them thinking I might make a little patchwork blanket or something. They are all made with such pretty material!

  16. Karen on 18.07.2011 at 11:43 (Reply)

fantastic! op-shopping is by far my favourite activity :) i collect vintage pillow cases as well, and i had some good clothing finds (50% off!) at my local salvos on Saturday!

    1. Lyndall on 20.07.2011 at 01:59 (Reply)

It seems like lots of people collect vintage pillowcases :) I’m in good company!
