One more week until I go ‘back’ to uni… It’s been crazy and emotional and an enormous change, with lots of paperwork and meetings and running around. Who knew escaping from a PhD and getting financial support to study would be so complicated? But now everything seems to be organised and all I need to do is be as lazy as possible for the rest of the week before I have to get to work!
Along with this big life change I decided that I want to start making more things. I borrowed mum’s old sewing machine so now I can look at all those projects I have saved. Here’s some things I’d like to make:
I’d use different colours to suit our kitchen… We don’t really have a colour theme now that I think of it! Maybe pink and red to match some new teatowels I bought.
I have some really cute apple-print fabric that I want to use in a bag design somehow. I think I will try to make it zakka-style (like this one) with some natural fabric as a base and use the apple fabric for details.
I adore Twinkie Chan, and making this cute broach from her tutorial is almost as good as owning one of her lovely scarves. Almost! I’m so excited that she’s making a pattern book too!
Speaking of crochet, I still want to make a granny square blanket. I just need to decide on the colours. I really like vintagey type colour schemes like the one in this picture. It’s funny how these types of blankets are cool again! We had a ton when I was younger because my nanna crocheted, I always hated them and thought they were itchy!
Okay, so this one doesn’t require sewing! But it’s really cute! I think maybe I could make one to frame and hang up in the lounge room.
And I already posted these cute and simple hair accessory tutorials… I think I need to go fabric shopping soon :3

Aww that potholder is so cute! I mean, cute…and useful :) I am in the process of organising ‘financial support for study’ as well and it is driving me mad. The whole thing makes me feel terrible! So hang in there!
I will write my pot holder making story in the letter that goes in your parcel which is being posted Friday.
Love this post!
