Finding a way to use up leftover paints from a failed project somehow became a pretty way to fill up the big, bare wall in our lounge room ♥
I painted my new love chevron pattern on some pieces of sketchbook paper, then drew rough feather shapes on the back. Once I cut them out, I added little notches to make them more feathery.
I hung them by tying the strands of wool onto a quickly crocheted chain. I like how the tied on ends look like bows.
They move so prettily in the breeze. And the bright colours work really well with our lounge room, which includes a yellow ‘feature’ wall (the joys of renting!). I’ve been trying for so long to think of something to fill that space, I’m so happy now~

I could make you something! As long as it fits into an envelope :) Maybe a postcard?
Absolutely fantastic, and it looks like something a professional artist would make.
This looks really gorgeous!!!
Thank you!
I’m loving the new layout over at your blog :)

Aww, thank you for all your sweet comments! So glad to have inspired you!
i absolutely love this. i’ve been admiring the feathers in your blog header for a while, but never saw the post about how you made them. i think i need to make my own. feathers and chevron are probably my favorite things .. or at least 2 of my favorites :) if i ever get around to making them i’ll write about it and link back here.. or girl, you should sell garlands like this on etsy or something!
Aw, thank you! I’ve been thinking about making some more, and maybe making some prints to sell too! One day :)
