Retro camera love
Sometimes it’s a good thing to have parents who were really into photography in the 1970s, especially when they never threw anything away. Mum gave me a big box full of old cameras and camera bits to play with, and I am so happy!
Sadly the Kodak Instamatic and the Minolta 400x cameras both take 126 film, which is totally obsolete. Sigh! So I guess they will join my Polaroid 600 camera to just look pretty on a shelf. I know that Polaroid 600 film isn’t obsolete, but at $30+ for 8 exposures, it may as well be. I’ve been thinking about getting a Fuji Instax camera one day to use instead…
The good news is that these two SLR cameras both take 35mm film. And the Yashica still has a roll of film in there! So I’m going to play around and use up the rest of the roll to see what happens. It might end up being a dud, but it might turn out! My first camera was an old SLR, and I took some photography and darkroom classes a long time ago. So it should be fun as all my buried manual photography knowledge slowly comes back to me! ♥

Op-shop treasures
Last week B. and I went on a little adventure, back to our old suburb to look in all of the op-shops. As usual, there was lots of digging through ugly junk, but we managed to find a few treasures.

The sweetest little baby cardigan (complete with bonus cute coathanger) to go in our ever-growing pile of baby things. (I’m not expecting yet, but we have started putting things aside. It doesn’t hurt to be prepared, right?)

Pretty pillowcases. I was planning to cut them up to use the material, but now I’m thinking that a mixed collection of vintagey pillowcases might be a nice thing to have…

Knitting goodies! There wasn’t very much wool, but I discovered that op shops are a goldmine for knitting needles. There were jars and jars full of them for 50c a pair. Amazing!

We had a pie dish just like this one which got dropped and broken. So I was very happy to find this replacement! And I love this scarf. It’s a little different from my usual style, but I think it is so pretty ♥
Have a look at Danielle’s Treasure Hunting post for some more amazing thrift store finds! I want that school desk in my size!

Vintagey treasures
We spent a rainy Saturday driving around our old neighbourhood and looking for nice things. Here are two of the treasures I found:
I just love vintage kitchenware, especially Pyrex. Just the other day I talked myself out of buying a whole dinnerset (complete with salt & pepper shakers!), so I was happy when I found this at a Salvation Army store. It also has matching cups!
There were three of these amazing baskets, in two different stores. Did a 1970s picnic wholesaler get rid of their stock? Hehe. I love the basket, and the red inside is so pretty. I think it needs a proper blanket, and some delicious cakes, and a thermos of tea, and then we will be ready to have many picnic adventures.
And… I said goodbye to my dark hair. It just wasn’t working out. After watching so many episodes of Mad Men I decided that I really needed to be a redhead :3 I love it! B. did a wonderful job helping me with all the messy bleach and dye process ?

This picture shows the true colour a bit better. Love!
I hope everyone had a happy Halloween! People don’t really celebrate Halloween here but I love it! I was so excited that we got two super cute little trick or treaters. Even if we had no sweets for them, because lollies don’t last long in this house! I dug in to my sticker collection and found two big sheets of cute animal stickers for them instead.
