I love reading ‘facts about me’ blog posts. I think they tie with ‘in my bag’ posts as my favourite thing to read on other blogs~ I thought I would write one of my own. So here you are, five little things about me:
1) I went to university for almost 10 years and have four degrees:
- Bachelor of Arts (English)
- Honours First Class (Creative Writing)
- Diploma of Languages (Japanese)
- Graduate Diploma of Library and Information Management.
I also spent 3.5 years of this time working on a PhD in English Literature, but I left so I could become a librarian. This is my first year of not being a student, and it is very nice not having to do assignments any more!
2) One of the most magical things I have done was to climb to the top of Notre Dame Cathedral and look out over Paris at night. It was so beautiful! Also, so many stairs. So many.
3) I’ve been vegetarian for over five years. I love that it has made me be more creative with cooking, and that what I eat is much healthier- because there aren’t many meatless fast food options. There are lots of amazing vegetarian friendly restaurants in Adelaide: Vego & Loving It ?, Zen House ?, and Hakwer Street Cafe- who I love for making a delicious vegan breakfast since I can’t stand eggs!.
4) Whenever I go out for coffee I always want to take a photo of it before drinking. There’s just something so majestic about a big cappuccino. It makes me very happy if the barista draws a love heart on the top ?
5) The only radio station I listen to ABC Classic FM. I’m kind of in love with the Classic Breakfast presenter and hearing her show is such a nice way to start my workdays.

Thank you for taking the time to comment! I love hearing from all my visitors. I try to reply to everyone, so please check back~

My name is Lyndall & this is my blog. I'm a librarian and mama to bebe Felix (born 02/05/2012), sharing little snapshots of my life, things that inspire me, love letters, and lots of daydreaming ♥

Awesome … comment thing is showing up on my computer again. Yah! Firstly, I don’t think I’ll ever feel guilty about being at uni for 7.5 years again, but I only have two degrees :( I have also climb to the top of Notre Dame. My aunt nearly had a heart attack as a result … Lastly, I used to listen to Radio Adelaide. It’s where I heard Goyte for the first time (take that Triple J!).

Yay!
Yes, I’m a bit embarrassed about my life as a professional student… but it was a good experience, and it gave me time to learn lots of things while I figured out what I wanted to do. I love the university environment and I’d like to try working as a research librarian someday~
I love Radio Adelaide too! Pretty much any radio that isn’t Top 40/No repeat workday crap is the best. I’m always so grateful that I don’t work somewhere that plays the radio all day!
You have soooooo many degrees!
And I’m exactly, the same, before I drink my coffee or eat a delicious meal I always whip out my camera to take a picture first ha!
I’m glad I’m not the only food and coffee photographer, hehe~
I loved reading these! I can’t believe you have so many degrees :O. You are so talented! I am also the exact same about the coffee pictures..I always look like I’ve never been outside before!
<3
Aw, thank you! Haha, I love your comment about it looking like you’ve never been outside before! When we get coffee now, B. always asks if I want to take a photo before he has some of the cappuccino topping :p
Woah…I can hardly believe that you had that much schooling and that many degrees. That’s quite awesome:) I only have one degree and it’s definitely not something that I have been using…I guess I’m somewhat ashamed of that but happy nonetheless, and I would totally love to go back to school someday. That must have been completely magical being at the top of Notre Dame Cathedral!!
Thank you! ♥ I’d like to go back and study more too. Although for now I am enjoying not having to do any homework!
Whoa…10 Years?!?! That is insane!!! I can’t believe you have so many degrees! Good for you :D
Thank you! Yes, I think it was kinda insane, hehe…
10 yeaaaaaaars.. that’s many years! i think i would love to go back to school though. i miss it.. but i wasn’t too excited about classes while i was in college hehe.. i think i probably miss the college campus idea rather than the classes. i deeffinitely don’t miss the homework!
Yeah, it’s very nice not to have homework now! I like being able to leave my work behind when I go home!
I miss uni life sometimes, but I guess it wouldn’t be the same going there in my late 20s as it was when I was 17… If I ever go back I’ll probably be one of those crazy mature students who sits right at the front and knits while tape-recording the lecture!
aww nice to know a bit more about you! I would love to go back to school and I have a similar BA but in sec. education & english :)! -Lo
I originally wanted to be a secondary teacher, but then I realised I’m too shy to be in front of a class! I taught on a first-year uni class for a semester too, which was a bit scary. I might go back to work in a school one day, as a librarian! I think that would be fun~
Ten years! Wow. I’ve had 4, so far, and don’t think I could handle any more. And I love reading these things, too. =]

Haha yes… It’s such a long time! I guess doing a double major + honours + postgrad years kinda adds up. And there is no way that I could be as dedicated a student now that I’ve had a taste of freedom! It was like pulling teeth for me to do the bare minimum to pass my librarian degree, haha.
WHAT! FOUR DEGREES!! Yikes…bravo!
Aw, thank you!
wow… 10 years and 4 degrees. well you win that round … i’ve been in school for 7 years… 1 degree. le sigh. :]
Studying is hard! Any degree is a great achievement! ♥ What have you been studying?
How funny that we had the same post ideas!
10 years of uni woohoo congrats that is huge, 5 was more then enough for me :-)
Totes agree that American reality is better then Australian.
The picture of that coffee, man-o-man it makes me want some(and for it to be fall already). 10 years of Uni and 4 degrees, wow, talk about an amazing feat; care to throw some of that school dedication my way?! ^_*
I always want coffee! I’ll send you some of our cooler weather, I’m looking forward to warm spring days over here~
That cappuccino photo is absolutely adorable. :3 I love glittery, whimsical photos like that; it’s so warm and fuzzy and comforting.
Aw, thank you! I like making glittery photos, it’s fun~
I feel so much better about still studying! I am currently in my last (and 7th) year. 4 qualifications later….
- Diploma of App Science (Biotech)
- Bachelor of App Science (Biotech/Biomed)
- Honours First Class (Biotech/Immunology)
- Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary)
And now i get told to teach at tafe i need a Cert 4 in adult education! Number 5 might be next year…
At least i am now doing what i love, so it is all worth it!
Ooh, your degrees sound so interesting! Good luck with your studies :)
Well, that was such a good place to start as a new visitor!
I’m entirely in awe of your ten years of university – and indeed, of your degrees! Japanese is such a beautiful language to listen to I think, I’d love to have the patience (or time!) to learn some some time. I’m also guilty of photographing my cappuccinos – I worked in a coffee shop for a while once, and I always like to stop and appreciate good coffee making – it’s an art!
Good coffee making is such an art! I’d love to do a barista course someday, then have a fancy coffee machine at home for practicing~
I’m glad you came to visit because I love your blog! ♥
my brother is teaching himself japanese right now, and you’re quite possibly the first person i’ve heard of who can not only speak it, but has a degree! where did you go to school for that??
